Type Cubes

This is another project I did for one of my design classes at Ferris State University. As I worked out designs and patterns for the cubes I kept thinking to myself: “What’s the point of this project?”

Then ( months later ) I realized they would be supa’ fun to photograph and it would give me something to post on my awesome blog.

You may be seeing these again..

Origami Firework

For my Design 2 Final I had to collage text together to make a sweet design, then fold it into something awesome..Like a firework! It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but as you turn the star shape back into itself it resembles small paper explosions. Yup, It’s pretty cool. I’ll post a vid sometime of the firework in action.

Oh, and I made three. Just for kicks and giggles.

Lets Sail Away..

My latest Lino cut!

Wondercut Linoleum is amazing.

My Living Necklace

Okay, so right now I’m kind of really into terrariums.

I was on Etsy the other day and saw some really sweet “terrarium” necklaces! Most of them had fake moss, but what’s the point of that? Awhile ago my brother was really into making these “living necklaces” and got the technique down. He even made me a glass box necklace, and I was also able to find a small glass vial to use. We layered in the clay, sand, stones, dirt, and moss; which I got from our backyard. I’m really hoping my moss wont die, but we’ll see what happens.

Recycled Notebook

I used an old condensed Readers Digest ( Hard Cover ) and created a notebook using recycled/found paper. I cut the cover away from the pages and used a drill press to make the holes. I gathered up just about all the paper I could find; paper bags, construction paper, lined notebook paper, ect. I even re-used some of the pages that were in the book. I just put a few coats of white spray paint onto them to cover the type. Then I bound it with some soft brown cord using a herring bone stitch. I think it turned out pretty awesome, I cant wait to start doodling and writing all over the pages!

A Wooden Submarine.

I was rooting through all of my brothers stuff (while I was looking for supplies for my Binary Watch) and I came across this cool little submarine he  made like a million years ago. It’s totally interactive! There is a crank for the propellor, a lever for the rudder, windows, lights, its amazing. I couldn’t let him throw it away, its too cute. Check out the pics..

Thanks For All The Awesome Stuff

This is a “thank you” card I made to send out to someone.

SB and BL Branding

Awhile ago I did some stenciling for SweetBananas, my vision at the time was to screen print t-shirts, canvas bags and all kinds of good stuff.

Well, it didn’t work out.

But I did come out with some really sweet stencils, hand – cut by moi. I usually use a piece of vellum and spray a few coats of clear spray paint on it. Then, I trace my design with pencil onto the vellum and start cutting away with my x-acto knife. I dug out some of the designs I used for practice  and I think they look pretty sweet. It has inspired me to make more stencils for my other brand, BananaLove. I haven’t had time to do much for BL or any new stuff for SB but I thought I d post what I had just for fun.

I stenciled on the other side of this, so some paint shows through from the back.

This one doesn't really have anything to do with SB or BL, but I wanted to post it 'cause its awesome! I spent quite a bit of time cutting this out. I don't have the stencil anymore since I tend to throw most of my stuff out after awhile.
